Can you imagine dance students working together in a project with young people and adults with special needs? The experience comes from Singapure and uses Soundbeam equipment!
We found out about an interesting project from Singapure: “Pushing the boundaries of inclusivity”. This project happened this year of 2016 and is the result of a partnership between I’m Soul Inc institute and NAFA dance school (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts).
In May they made a video to show the results and opinion of several participants. Watch the video!
The team of I’m Soul Inc institute believes that music has the power to wire brains, to heal and to connect people. However not everyone has access to music… because of the difficulty do access musical instruments, the difficulty of playing an instrument or a physical or intelectual disability. Their mission is that EVERYONE has access to music and enjoys its benefits.
One of the technologies they have is Soundbeam. It translates any movement, however small it may be, into sound, into music.
According to teachers and students of NAFA school dance, this partnership and this project allowed their students to get away from the textbooks and to get closer to human interactions with people from all ages and habilities. Students consider this experience a true opportunity for learning, for feeling and accepting the other, for understanding their passion, theis wishes, their limitations and their complex habilities.
The participants of the project believe that this was the first step of a true interaction and integration with the community and with very diverse people… “They are not people with special needs, they are people with different needs and valuable habilities“, says one of the dance teachers.
